Threat of Danger Mission Recovery Book 2 edition by Dana Marton Romance eBooks
Threat of Danger by Dana MartonA romantic thriller. You know the serial killer is out there but you have to wait until he shows himself. I was on the edge knowing who was the most susceptible and wanting to warn them to watch her closely.
The hero and heroine have recovered from the past incident in their own way. Now they need to revisit the past as they realize they are stronger and now ready to fight back.
I Loved the unconditional friendship between Jess and Pam. The scene of them drinking wine coolers on the roof was priceless. Jess casually throws herself off the roof (as a stunt person, she knows how to fall) and Pam shares stats on Derek without prompting (although she points out that it was without prompting) shows a depth between the two that is rare and precious.
A bit of humor. “Would it be rude to hit him with a pillow?”
Overall a wonderfully suspenseful novel. I look forward to more by this author.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.

Threat of Danger Mission Recovery Book 2 edition by Dana Marton Romance eBooks Reviews
Dana has done it again! I really enjoyed her Mission Recovery Book 1, this one however, takes us deeper down the rabbit hole. Her perspective of Jess and her kidnapping shows how survivors make it through life. Having been a victim before myself, I can relate to Jess in so many ways. Dana is clearly a very perspective and empathetic person to carry this one to ending that will keep everyone guessing. Another Great book Ms. Marton.
I agree with the reviewer who said the sex scenes were unrealistic given the dark nature of this story. The first half however had some magical moments - the tension between Eliot and the hero was most enjoyable and the progression of the romance was beautifully paced. The circumstances thwarting the childhood lovers was a great plot line BUT the killer didn't work for me. I felt the reporter or Deputy Muller even could've worked better. The actual villain struck me as too old to be convincing and 50 for his first foray as unrealistic.
It was just okay and a little unrealistic I mean the heroine finally kills the bad guy after nearly getting killed and what does she do have sex with the hero also I found her to be whiney and unable to make up her mind staying not staying and the hero put up with her behavior not her best book
I read the first in this series and decided to go ahead and read this one. In it, Jess goes home to Vermont when her mother breaks a hip and walks back into her own horrible teenage experience. Marton has both heroines in these books having had terrible torture experiences, though she spares us graphic details. The hero Derek was with the hero Cole in the first book and also tortured. He limps. He was forced by the killer to witness Jess’s torture and helped her escape. Together they hunt down the torturer-killer who is hunting Jess again.
It is a good read. I recommend it. I like the family that forms, faces losses and loves. That is the novel’s strength, to me. I would read more of Marton’s books.
My words just can't do justice to describe how fantastic I think Threat of Danger is. I'm a big fan of Dana Marton's work and I think this book is her best one yet. It's gritty and compelling and so suspenseful that I found myself holding my breath in places. It's also romantic and a wonderful second chance story.
The blurb is really good and it would be stupid for me to go on and on about this book – it's so, so good but I don't want to give anything away. At lot of time in romantic suspense/mystery books I can spot the bad guy fairly early on but not in Threat of Danger. Dana skillfully kept her cards to herself and when all was revealed – WOW!
If you enjoy romantic suspense/thrillers don't pass this one up.
I should also mention that while it's the second in a series the only connection I saw to book one was a brief reference to the main couple from that book. No worries at all about reading this as a standalone.
Returning to her Vermont home town after ten years away is not something Jess Taylor wants to do. She's built a successful career in Hollywood as a stuntwoman, formed a great friendship with a colleague which might develop into something more, and put aside the decade-old memories of her kidnapping and assault. Mostly.
But her mother has broken her hip, and Jess had three weeks between jobs, so what else can she do? She's no longer a victim, and memories can't hurt her again. What Jess didn't foresee was the presence of her former boyfriend Derek Daley - the one who was kidnapped with her, the one who was forced to witness her nightmare, the one who helped her escape.
Derek returned to Vermont after retiring, injured, from the Navy. Now a successful writer, he spends much of his spare time searching for evidence, any evidence, to locate the kidnapper he believes is still out there, and still attacking young women. As much as he longs to see Jess again, he fears for her safety. But she has grown stronger in the past decade, and can look after herself. Is there still room in Jess's life for Derek?
Although the underlying story of kidnapping, assault, and a possible serial killer is somewhat disturbing, this book does not dwell on the original event, and it is not described in detail (something I prefer to avoid in books I read for entertainment ). Rather, it focuses on one woman's determination not to let something which was done to her, something which was not her fault, define her for the rest of her life. In a society which happily blames victims, I think that this is a powerful message which needs to be shared.
As with all Marton's books, this is well-paced, well-written, albeit with a few more errors than I like, and although I guessed the perperator fairly early, it was still hard to put down. Four stars.
