I chose to write this out of frustration, where are all the female serial killers I asked? Seems the only ones I've heard about were abused, tortured, driven to the edge, and from the USA. So I asked myself- is it possible for a normal girl in Ireland to be a killer and yet blend in, and the answer - hypothetically- is yes. If nature and nurture play no part in forming a killer, who or what do you blame? It's also my massive two fingers to "Chick Lit" The characters are fictional, though some are shadowy past encounters. I have drawn on childhood memories but twisted them for the purpose of fiction. My interest in murder and serial killers dates back to my teens, and perhaps in a different life, I could have been a Sophie. I wish to thank anyone in law enforcement for keeping us all safe from the real life terrors, and having more intelligence than my character would give credit. and a word of warning to lonely guys? - be careful who you date.

This was the most spellbinding book I've read for a long time.i just can't wait for the sequel !Also , coming from Dublin ,I was brought down memory lane,I could identify with all the landmarks.
I highly recommend Camoflauge,just couldn't put it down; now I hear it's being made into a movie,can't wait!!!

Camouflage, set in Ireland, had me captivated from the first few pages. Natasha White has done her research on women offenders and has created the wonderfully scary, sexy, smart, cunning character named Sophie. This is a quick read and one that is impossible to put down. Sophie is a character that, unapologetically, has disdain for those that have slighted her. Sophie also toys with men, the way a cat taunts a helpless bunny, for self-gratifying purposes. The book ends with you wanting the next book! Yes - this must be a series!

Really enjoyed the book well written and an interesting story of a girl that could be anyone you know or work with. Great detail and description of a serial killer and what leads them to kill. Having grown up in Dublin I really enjoyed reading about all the places I remember so well.
Sophie is not a very nice person, but she is so much fun to read! Who hasn't on occasion thought about being the bad person? You should read this novel and indulge with Sophie.
If you consider the amount of abuse pitched at women by society - the looks, the weight issue, the damned if you do and damned if you don't, sex play dilemma, not to mention the casual verbal abuse like the pejorative use of 'bitch' and don't get me started on the physical and mental abuse meted out in relationships, then a female serial killer, might seem a logical denouement. Except no-one's done it before, until Natasha White and Camouflage.I found it too one dimensional so that everything is seen through the eyes of Sophie, the serial killer protagonist. This leaves her to 'explain' and 'analyse' her own actions and so, even if these are even marginally plausible, they just become repetitive. White's characterization of Celtic Tiger stereotypes are keenly and wittily observed, if occasionally overindulged. Sophie's anger flashes can be overbearing; she's clever and calculating but almost always on the point of blowing a gasket. Sure, it's two fingers in the face of Mills and Boon but if it's also a knickerless, microskirt flash in the face of Chicklit, the skirt is from the latest Victoria's Secret collection and the shoes are Jimmy Choos. All that said, Camouflage is a cracking, if chilling, read. But that's only if you can wade through this appallingly proofread, version.
