Jesse Bauer is unsure what his future holds after an injury forces him out of the marines earlier than expected. With all of the decisions he has to make in his civilian life, with all of its freedoms and possibilities, he feels staying closeted and keeping the people in his life happy will keep down the chaos.
Until the night he met Tucker Gray at a party he thought that'd be possible, but both of them are instantly and strongly in lust. As their relationship grows, Jesse has to prove himself, and Tucker has to learn to trust more than the cut

Don't Trust the Cut edition by Kade Boehme LC Chase Literature Fiction eBooks
Quite simply, this is a really bad book. The writing is incredibly stilted, the dialogue so unnatural and awkward. Mental illness is a huge theme but somehow manages to be covered really superficially. There are some truly absurd contrived conflicts, especially towards the end with the most ridiculous made up reason that delays their HEA by a month. An ex-girlfriend plays a bizarrely central role which never seems to make sense (I just can't imagine anyone acting that way) and we're expected to veer constantly from liking and disliking her to back again. Attempts to distinguish characters by describing their personalities or writing banter really failed.Definitely do not waste your money on this book. However, the same author has published other books I quite enjoyed, so I am assuming he's improving (or has found a good editor). Very different in tone (which I think is a good thing - unfortunately he doesn't really have the skill to pull of serious themes) but a million times better in quality is Simple Things, which I suggest you check out.

Don't Trust the Cut edition by Kade Boehme LC Chase Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This is a real roller-coaster of a book. The characters are very honestly presented and believable. The subject matter is disturbing, and is realistically told with a great writing style.
The main character is Tucker. He is a damaged and broken human being who is recovering from an unknown life altering event and taking his first fledgling steps in his return to the world. Tucker is fragile and reclusive, but has support from his only friend. The situations and causes of his previous life are not revealed until late in the story, and this makes for a compelling read. We want to know, but it is best that this revelation is withheld.
Into his life comes a battle scarred ex-marine, Jesse, who has his own demons. However, Jesse appears to at least have his problems somewhat under control, until he meets Tucker. The electricity that passes between them at their initial encounter at a party upsets his planned future, and sets in motion what this book is all about.
Initially, I suspected what Tucker's problem could be, from the title. Where this story takes the reader is into the carefully constructed protective barriers that both men have set very painstakingly in place.
I have no doubt as to the author's connection to this story, as there are few people who could have written such a piece of work like this without it. This is a labor of exorcism, of demons both personal and intimate, that is told with surprising care and love. The prose here is unmistakably honest and real and is deserving of praise. This is a mixed bag of discovery, ugliness, and finding the strength in one's self to learn to live one day at a time.
I was pleasantly surprised to find none of the other reviewer's problems with typos or editing. This must be a revised edition because the story flows without distractions, or, at least, none that I could find. The writing is clean, polished and very straightforwardly honest. Because I had a meaningful read, and I really liked the story and it's meaning, I figured I owed Kade a five star rating. Thanks for an excellent experience.
I know going into reading Kade's books to expect some drama filled angst and Don't Trust the Cut did exactly that. I read the original a few years ago and was so excited to see he was going to do a revision of this m/m romance. I picked that baby up and dove right in.
After a brief mind blowing kiss between two strangers where Tucker ran off, Tucker and Jesse run into each other again a year later and the attraction is still there. Unfortunately, Jesse is still in a pseudo relationship with Miranda, one made of convenience and friendship, but she wants more. Jesse is afraid to hurt her feelings and doesn't feel like he can come out, but something's gotta give.
Then there's Tucker. He had my heart right from the beginning. So much he's had to work through....something that will always be a struggle to control. The strength to conquer his past demons and work towards a future filled with love and happiness absolutely slayed me.
These two needed to work hard to get their HEA and at times, it wasn't pretty, but life is never easy. It's how you overcome life's obstacles, work through the issues and start accepting yourself that you can really love another. Tucker and Jesse managed to accomplish that!
