Brad McCoy is a survivor, and a cynical bastard. He lived through the bloody first few months of the zombie rising and lost everything he cared about before finding his place in this new, terrible world. He fights alone, exterminating the hungry dead, and he is okay as long as he is doing the job. He is an exterminator, and instead of ants in the pantry or raccoons in the attic, he eradicates zombies and he’s damned good at it. He thinks the dead hold no surprises for him anymore, and he must only truly fear the living. Unfortunately for Brad, and the rest of the living population, he is wrong…
Join Brad and his not-so-merry band of survivors as they try to carve out their own safe place in a world overrun by the dead. Along the way, watch as Brad begins to emerge from his self-imposed isolation and notices the people around him as he relearns what it is to be human. Slowly at first, and on his own terms, of course. Just don’t try to tell Brad your sad story, because he really doesn’t want to hear it. He’s got enough on his plate.
This exciting new book of the war with the dead combines an original, 85,000-word novel with the short story that started it all, “Hunger Driven”, for one low price.

Fight the Hunger A Hunger Driven Novel eBook William Allen
A great book and an awesome continuation of the short story, 'Hunger Driven'! Mr. Allen delivers with more narration from Brad McCoy, self-proclaimed "Zombie Exterminator". As his "jobs" become more numerous, Casey (a rescued teen from the short story) enlists herself as Brad's trainee and partner. The interactions and conversations between the two are enjoyable to read and at times, hysterical! When Brad's skills are needed to assist a rescue mission, both he and Casey step up to help. But being an exterminator can get tricky when it's not just the undead....the living, with the wrong ideas, can be just as much of a problem.
I absolutely loved the conversational tone of this entire book. With Brad's insights and opinions, it was easy to follow and become totally immersed in his story-telling. What I'd like next is another book to follow! I have always enjoyed Mr. Allen's writing, especially the 'Walking in the Rain' series, but his fresh approach on a zombie apocalypse was extremely entertaining! I'll look forward to more books from William Allen....but more of Brad's adventures, please!
Oh! And if you haven't read the short story yet, don't despair! It's actually offered at the beginning of this book. So you can enjoy both stories in a single book! Well done!

Fight the Hunger A Hunger Driven Novel eBook William Allen Reviews
Ok.. I have been reading a lot of the zombie books lately. I think that like the author they are an excuse to talk guns. and survival.. This book hits on every one of the things that don't make sense in other zombie books and explains why.. I really couldn't find a page where I thought "gee.. is this author an idiot?" because Allen gets it.. he thinks about how it should work and what would work and even.. how all these damaged people would interact in a believable way.
I enjoyed this book. The ZA world created by Allen is rich and detailed. He has some creative ideas about survivalism and eradicating zombies not necessarily seen in other ZA fiction I've read (about a dozen series so far). The characters are overall well-developed, especially the main character who has a solid, albeit slow, progression in this book. I'm sure Allen has an overarching story in his head and my only criticism is I felt the plot in this book was closer to a couple of vignettes or short stories strung together than having an overall idea, but maybe Allen intends to bring that out further in Book 2. Overall, very good - 4 stars. I will definitely continue reading this series as books get released.
OK, Another hit for William Allen & what a great surprise as I finished off the first part & thought wait that was way to short. Then what a super, super surprise, a second part. And I loved it!!!! Plus another whole approach on the Zombie Apocalypse, a Zombie Exterminator, that goes in before hand & starts to cull the herd. The main character Chad was good, but in part 2, he made you really root for him & everyone around him. So now all I can say is I definitely want to here more about this group, with Casey, the good Doctor Kelly & all the rest of the group, also what goes down in Beaumont. As this is definitely something to read & want more of, so William Allen, please give of more of this outstanding series.
This book was amazing. Totally different viewpoint and take on the Zombies. I have decided I don't like evolving Z's; they're scary. I loved Brad and all his flaws, loved the introspection he has concerning his shortcomings and thought Casey was a great sidekick. She gives him the humanity he needs. Lots of chuckles with all their banter and looking forward to the hint of a romantic interest in the sequel. Be sure and read the prequel short story in the book. It explains a lot. Great story Will.
The preemptive strike, or warning paragraph, about guns had me concerned. I happen to agree with a fair amount of Allen's logic, but the tone was... unfriendly and defensive, which made me wonder about the tone of the book.
I am glad to say the storyline was well thought out with solid characters and the book overall was pleasantly realistic. It was focused on guns, but they were a natural and well used plot device. I still love my axe throwing, sword chopping, spear thrusters. However, this book gave me a new appreciation for the trigger pullers and I sincerely look forward to the next installment.
I really didn't expect anything less, Fight the Hunger is an exciting story set in a world six months after a quarter of the world's population got a hunger for flesh. Nothing flashy here, no super commando, ex-whatever; just a balding 40-something year old man, former accountant, that is probably just about as dead on the inside as the zombies he kills on a daily basis, working as a rough exterminator culling the herds of the undead. Mr. Allen did an excellent job of visualizing a world where the dead walk, driven by hunger; while the few remaining living try and carry on with what living they can. So great story, well edited, excellent characters, a realistic and very satisfying story. Hoping for a sequel, but this book is complete by itself; but a second book would be nice, really nice.
What happens when a damaged man takes on clearing the thousands of undead from a town so the military can secure the area, access supplies, and establish a new safe spot for the few remaining alive ? One man, thousands of rounds of .22 and a target rich environment. This is Brad's story - the one man left who can look the undead in the eye and pull the trigger - thousands of times a day. Day after day. Making the world safer one dead zombie at a time.
A great read from the author of the Walking In The Rain series. If you enjoy this book, run and pickup WITR. You won't regret reading story of a teen walking home to Texas after being stranded in Chicago during a school trip when all the lights go out.
